ABOUT ME

I'm an 18 year old senior in high school, and I am going to attend the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning this fall. I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. Out of the three kids in my family, I was always the artistic one. Instead of playing with barbies, I preferred to doodle. My love for art began to decline as I got older, because I thought I wasn’t very good at drawing with a pencil or painting on a canvas. I continued to doodle on my homework, but nothing serious. Then, I took my first digital art class as a freshman in high school. This opened me up to a new world of art. I found I was much better at digital editing than any other form of art I had tried.

My art is a reflection of two parts of me: the brighter side and the darker side. The brighter side of me likes to use pastel colors and design cute things that are appealing to the eye. The darker side of me likes to convey deeper meanings into my artwork that aren’t always very happy and uplifting. This reflects my philosophy of life. I know I will go through bad times in my life, things that people don’t necessarily want to talk about and see, but they need to be portrayed. But there are always good times that I will experience that make me smile and feel good. I think both of these views should be reflected in my art.

I spend a lot of time on my art because it means a lot to me. I feel like it is one of the only things I am good at. In my digital art class, I feel like I am equal to my peers, and it makes me happy. I love creating things and I spend a lot of time on each project so it comes out to how I want and see it in my head.
